The First Royal Windsor Horse Show Was Held in May of 1943

Monday, May 12 2014 by Editor
In May of 1943, the first ever Royal Windsor Horse Show was held, beginning an annual tradition still in effect today. Founded by Geoffrey Cross and Count Robert Orssich, the first Royal Windsor Horse Show was part of the “Wings for Victory” effort to raise money to purchase war bombers for use during World War II. The first Royal Windsor Horse show was attended by King George VI as well as Queen Elizabeth

corrected with new pix: Bay My Hero & William Fox-Pitt (GBR) Win Rolex, Lauren Kieffer & Veronica earn USEF National 4-Star Championship, Buck…

Sunday, April 27 2014 by Editor
Pre-PS: Sorry for the mistake in original post – our bad – when we identified Sinead and Tate as Lauren and Veronica – big oopsie! – we know the difference, but were dazzled by smiles and feeling a wee bit fatiqued after an exhilarating Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, presented by Land Rover. Also, stay tuned for a post about the inaugural Dubarry of Ireland Nations Team Challenge, won by the USA – Lsuren Kieffer/Veronica, Sinead Halpin/Manboir de Carneville and Buck Davidson/Ballynoe Castle RM. We think that’s the main reason why we inserted Sinead’s photo by mistake – we noticed the blue rosette and kicked on with our brain asleep at the mouse… NEW IMPROVED POST RE ROLEX KENTUCKY 3-Day Event, presented by Land Rover: William Fox-Pitt won his third Rolex championship and watch in five years – on the less experienced of his two horses, Bay My Hero, with Seacookie TSF earning ninth place

Ever since 2006, the first year that we covered Rolex, we wanted to stay in an RV at the Kentucky Horse Park Campground.

ROLEX: AFTER DRESSAGE

Saturday, April 26 2014 by Editor
It has been an interesting and somewhat emotional day in the dressage standings for a variety of reasons. Currently, American riders more than hold their own in the upper echelon of the standings.

WELCOME TO ROLEX: THE BEST WEEKEND ALL YEAR!

Wednesday, April 23 2014 by Editor
Here we are again – and the first thing we saw walking into the Press Center presided over by Marty Bauman, assisted by his Classic Communications/Rolex team is this poster! AMEN!!!! Rolex Kentucky 3-Day Event, only CCI**** in North America, is for eventing enthusiasts the “best weekend of the year!”   © Lauren R Giannini   Not only the best, but also one of the most exciting weekends  in terms of the equestrian triathlon of dressage, cross-country and show jumping, which pretty much sums up eventing. The roster of 60 entries (we hope we counted correctly) is all-star with quite a few four-star debutantes. Needless to say, the jog has taken place, a couple horses were spun or withdrawn, and the excitement of the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event will continue to increase until the winner is crowned on Sunday afternoon

Ensuring Your Horse’s Care When You’re Not Around

Wednesday, April 23 2014 by Editor
As much as we all want to be the ones to care for our horses all of the time, sometimes life necessitates that someone else step in. If you’re planning a vacation or some time away from the barn , you’ll want to make sure that your horse receives the same quality care that he does when you’re the one providing it. Here are some great tips to make it so that anyone can give your horse the care he deserves

Prepping for Rolex!

Tuesday, April 22 2014 by Editor
We are all very busy finishing up our semester! Lots of studying, test, papers and presentations. Despite the craziness with getting ready to end the school year, six of us are heading to Rolex Friday! Aisling, Robin and I leave very early Friday morning while Brendan, Heather and Nicolette leave later that day. Some of us will be staying with a very generous host family that Aisling Carroll provided! We will be attending cross country day on Saturday and stadium on Sunday! If you will be attending Rolex look for us in our shirts and come say hi! I have been very lucky this week to help Kristen Schmolze get Rox ready for Rolex.
