Thank You Budweiser For Making Me Cry – Again!

By Jan Westmark-Allan I am not a football fan. I grew up in a football family, but when horse fever hit me, that was the direction I went in life. But, once a year I am a football fan – during the Superbowl.

By Jan Westmark-Allan Sidelines at the beach! I spent many years living in the Wellington area, showing at the FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival – or WEF, as it is called. I have wonderful, wonderful memories of hanging out at WEF, so returning this week after a four year absence has been fantastic

Really Missouri? Really?

Thursday, January 31 2013 by Editor
By Dani Moritz Let me just start this blog by saying this – “What the heck is wrong with Mother Nature?” Monday and Tuesday we were in the 70s. I went out to the barn and my poor pony was sweating just standing there. I didn’t even want to ride her, the poor thing looked so uncomfortable.

David Marcus Top Canadian at World Dressage Masters

Tuesday, January 29 2013 by Editor
Wellington, Florida – David Marcus of Campbellville, ON, was the top-placed Canadian at the CDI5* World Dressage Masters Palm Beach held January 23 to 27 in West Palm Beach, FL.   In a 15-horse starting field that featured riders from Canada, Denmark, Italy, Sweden, The Netherlands, and the United States, Marcus placed seventh in Friday’s Grand Prix test.  Marcus and Chrevi’s Capital, 13-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding (Chrevi’s Cavallo x Weinberg) owned by Deborah Miculinic, earned a score of 70.66% from the panel of five international judges and qualified to advance to Saturday night’s Grand Prix Freestyle.   In front of a packed house at the Jim BrandonCenter, seven of the world’s best performed their individually choreographed musical freestyle programs.  Marcus introduced his new Freestyle program, compiled by Joost Peters of The Netherlands.  Featuring music from WHAM! and George Michael, the extremely difficult choreography highlighted Chrevi’s Capital’s strong canter work, including quality pirouettes and elegant half-pass, while impressive piaffe and passage were also rewarded with high scores from the judges.  The pair’s final score of 70.75% ranked them sixth overall in their World Dressage Masters debut.

Guest Post: Equine Recurrent Uveitis

Tuesday, January 29 2013 by Editor
Equine Recurrent Uveitis(ERU) is also called moon blindness, periodic ophthalmia, or iridiocyclitis. Many clients I speak to are familiar with the term moon blindness, but they don’t really understand the disease, what causes it, and how we treat it.
