Grand Hunter Championship Goes to Mariano and Sandy Ferrell at Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Show

North Salem, NY – May 15, 2013 – The Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Show continued in its second week with today’s competition and presentation for the Grand Hunter Championship. Mariano, the champion of the Green Conformation division, scored the most points for the top title with rider Sandy Ferrell for owner Stephanie Riggio. Winston and Brooke Baldwin-deGrazia rode Winston to the win in the $1,000 USHJA Pre-Green Incentive class.

El Paso – Available for Adoption!

6 year old, 17hh Thoroughbred gelding “El Paso” is now available for adoption from our Lexington, KY facility! El Paso is an unraced, beautiful dark bay gelding. He is a big goofy horse who loves to go up an nip his friends on the rump to start a game. El Paso will also pick up and play with things that are laying around such as cones and wave them around.

Dan Steers of Double Dan Horsemanship Announced as First Competitor of Road to the Horse International 2014

Australian clinician, Dan Steers of Double Dan Horsemanship, was announced as the first competitor at Road to the Horse 2014. Steers will make his way to the Kentucky Horse Park March 14-16, 2014 to compete for the World Championship of Colt Starting title representing his homeland of Australia. Both Dan Steers and Dan James are all too familiar with the Road to the Horse phenomenon.

40th IHSA National Championships: One for the Record Books

Fairfield, CT — (May 14, 2013) – Only twice in the 40-year history of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association National Championships have two hunter seat teams tied for the Collegiate Cup overall high point title: 1980, when Southern Seminary College tied with SUNY Stony Brook, and 1989, when Colby-Sawyer College tied with Pennsylvania State University. In the early 1900’s, invention of the automobile and tractor meant that horses were no longer in high demand for farm work. Instead, many of the remaining draft horses were used by carriage companies, often pulling decorative weddings for carriages. Everett Smith of Ohio operated the Sugarbush Hitch Company.
