Aiken Summers

Wednesday, July 09 2014 by Editor
I couldn’t count the amount of time I have been asked “You really stay in Aiken during the summer?”. Many of the snow birds have no idea what Aiken is like in the summer and are baffled by the idea of riding in 90 degree weather every day from around May to about October! Despite the many beliefs, there is a lot to do in Aiken during the summer! Yes it may not be as busy and all the Olympians might not be here but summer in Aiken has been something that myself and others have learned to love. So here is a list of what us Aikenites do in the summer!   We take a break! In Aiken we can pretty much keep our horses going all year long! However, we all know that’s not fair to our ponies.

USCA Eventing still at work!

Thursday, June 12 2014 by Editor
Even though it is summer the USCA Eventing team has been busy! Busy competing, riding, attending clinics, having lessons and finally a meeting! We had our first summer meeting for the team. The purpose of the meeting was for the old and new officers to get together to talk and plan.

College eventing is growing!

Sunday, June 01 2014 by Editor
Just three years ago an eventing team at USC Aiken was just an idea. I vividly remember attending my first equestrian meeting at USCA with “Eventing?” on the power point and that was it.

Paradise, Honor Roll and more!

Monday, May 26 2014 by Editor
It has been pretty quiet for the team this month, however we have meetings set up this coming week to organize with our new officers and make a plan! We have a lot to do to get ready for next semester and especially our Collegiate Team Challenge at Full Gallop in November! Send invites, order ribbons and awards, find sponsors and donors, get our teams together and more! If any person or business is interested in being apart of USC Aiken’s FIRST EVER collegiate team challenge please contact me at marissajcollins@gmail.com ! Paradise Farm HT was yesterday and it was a great day! Beautiful weather…a bit hot at times though! The show ran great and from what I heard from many friends they all had a great day. I competed in the Open Training division and placed second! The xc course was a blast! Paradise has always been one of my favorite events!   Every semester the USCA Equestrian program dose an honor roll! Congratulations to the following Equestrian Club members who have been named to the Equestrian Club Honor Roll for the Spring 2014 semester

The team is back from Rolex and right back to school to finish classes and begin finals! It was a VERY long but VERY fun weekend. Prepping for Rolex!

Tuesday, April 22 2014 by Editor
We are all very busy finishing up our semester! Lots of studying, test, papers and presentations. Despite the craziness with getting ready to end the school year, six of us are heading to Rolex Friday! Aisling, Robin and I leave very early Friday morning while Brendan, Heather and Nicolette leave later that day. Some of us will be staying with a very generous host family that Aisling Carroll provided! We will be attending cross country day on Saturday and stadium on Sunday! If you will be attending Rolex look for us in our shirts and come say hi! I have been very lucky this week to help Kristen Schmolze get Rox ready for Rolex.
