Thursday, April 04 2013
by Editor
Previously we discussed the importance of looking at all your options (both now and in the future) when designing your barn . In fact, you may need to expand the idea of just building a barn and look at building a “facility” – barn, arena, turnout, storage, parking, etc

Living Like Royalty at The Brazilian Court (And Hanging Out with the Queen!!)
Wednesday, April 03 2013
by Editor
By Jan Westmark-Allan The courtyard at The Brazilian Court Hotel in Palm Beach. I feel very fortunate to have “hotel hopped” while in Palm Beach – and at my last hotel I was treated like royalty!! The Brazilian Court Hotel & Beach Club Palm Beach – another partner with WEF and another partnership I truly enjoyed — had a few tricks up their sleeve and they all included the royal treatment. I stayed at The Brazilian Court twice – because once wasn’t enough! On my second stay, our Sidelines WEF winner Jack Lube and his mom and sister were also staying at the hotel – along with the Queen

Critter-Sitting On Deadline – Famous Last Words
Tuesday, April 02 2013
by Editor
We have always done more than write. In addition to bodywork on horses and smaller mammals, including humans, we provide excellent care for Critters, Farms & Houses when dear friends travel. Occasionally we must go to extremes in order to ensure the well-being of their animals and homes: these efforts more than justify the small amount we ask to help our bill-paying fund (aka income before outgo!).

More Than One Perfect Day (And Place To Stay) In Palm Beach
Monday, April 01 2013
by Editor
By Jan Westmark-Allan I came across an article in Ocean Drive magazine the other day called “The Perfect Day in Palm Beach” and it made me smile. The article talked about where to stay in Palm Beach and how to “do as the uber-chic Palm Beachers do.” Several times this year I have “done” like the Palm Beachers and experienced the uber-chic lifestyle! Over the next three days I am going to tell you about the three luxurious places I stayed (yes, being an Editor can be tough!!) – and I will start with my first ultra swanky home-away-from-home: The Four Seasons Resort in Palm Beach.

Overnight the moon rose and the temperature dropped hourly to almost freezing and then, as the waning moon set, pink light appeared at the margins of this morning. Spring has already officially begun over a week ago but it is still cold in the morning

Nostalgia – A Look Back at WEF (When It Was Just Called “The Show Grounds”)
Thursday, March 28 2013
by Editor
By Jan Westmark-Allan I have spent many years at WEF (the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida) and I love the show grounds. I was in Wellington this past weekend and there were even more improvements! While I remember when Littlewood was behind WEF and that is where we showed when WEF wasn’t running, Mary Jane Scott remembers even more of the “old show days!” Mary Jane is my guest blogger today and takes us back to the days when WEF was simply called the Show Grounds

Hoof Care: A Look at Hoof Trimming
Wednesday, March 27 2013
by Editor
Hooves are (literally) the foundation upon which your horse stands, and as such it’s vital to keep them well maintained and healthy. Regular trimmings are a necessity for healthy hooves, and it’s important to use a skilled farrier whom you trust.
