Sidelines Spotlight: American Women Shine at Burghley (Way to go Sinead Halpin and Allison Springer!)
Wednesday, October 17 2012 by Editor
By Jan Westmark-Allan Now that the November issue of Sideline s is on the news stands (you can see it free online if you have a print subscription also!) there are several stories that were cut from the issue because of space — but they are still great stories and I want to share them with you!! MiMi Falb wrote a wonderful on-the-scene story on the success that American eventers Sinead Halpin and Allison Springer had at the Burghley Horse Trials following the London Olympics. It’s a great story and we were thrilled with the success these two young ladies had. Enjoy the journey as you ride along with Mimi, Sinead and Allison! By Jan Westmark-Allan A young fan collects autographs from his favorite riders at Del Mar, in California. All photos by Tish Quirk, unless noted Sidelines Magazine’s new mascot, Spirit, a Medicine Hat paint, is coming to live with me today! Known as the Perfect Paint, the shipping van that is bringing him from Boston to Asheville, North Carolina, got stuck in a LOT of holiday traffic so he is running late.

By Jan Westmark-Allan Sit Spirit Sit. Good boy! My search for the Perfect Paint included a long list of details (I am a good shopper and like to make lists!!) but never once on the list did I write: horse must sit on command!! Now that I think of it, however, it is a pretty cool item to have on a “wish” list – and lucky for me my wish is about to come true! As it turns out, I didn’t have to look far to find the Perfect Paint. Samantha Charles, the publisher of Sidelines Magazine, just so happened to have owned a Perfect Paint at one time and put in a call to the people she sold him to.

By Jan Westmark-Allan I rode the white horse at the Biltmore Estate today – looking pretty snazzy! Today I rode in style!! Yes, I rode a white horse around the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina.(ok not the one in the photo above). The perfect ride! (Which reminds me that I will tell you about the Perfect Paint soon – but first we talk about riding with the Vanderbilts!) I rode a horse named Hunter, a grey Arabian owned by a friend of mine. I rode with Brenda and Phoenix – Brenda knows the miles and miles of trails at the Biltmore like the back of her hand (hoof, in Phoenix’s case)

By Jan Westmark-Allan Congratulations to the Winner of the Perfect Products Regen-x EQ contest! Frankie Sperry of San Tan Valley, Arizona I love all of the contests we run on the Sidelines Magazine Facebook page. I love the photos that are submitted and I REALLY love the stories that come with each photo. We have a 50-word essay section to describe each photo and it’s amazing how much everyone can get into those 50 words
