More Flying Ponies In Wellington!

Tuesday, March 12 2013 by Editor
By Jan Westmark-Allan Valiente’s Patron, Bob Jornayvaz about to score. All photos by Alan Fabricant More flying ponies were spotted in Wellie World (a nickname for Wellington, Florida)this weekend – which translates to fast galloping polo ponies!! Photographer Alan Fabricant (www.alfabphoto.com) was on hand for the action and sent me photos. I love the photos, like the one above, where no hooves are on the ground – that pony is flying! This weekend they played the qualifying game for the USPA Piaget Gold Cup and Audi beat Alegria and Veliente beat Coca Cola

Monday, March 11 2013 by Editor
By Jan Westmark-Allan   A great book! We are knee-deep in the Sidelines OTTB Photo contest and it has been amazing to read each story and see the photos. They are heartwarming and amazing stories and show the strength and determination of the Thoroughbred breed.

I Loved Visiting The Wellington Equestrian Gallery & Mall – You Will Too!

Friday, March 01 2013 by Editor
By Jan Westmark-Allan This beautiful painting was being painted on the sidewalk outside of the Wellington Equestrian Gallery & Mall – but you also need to go inside – it is a horsey wonderland! On my recent trip to Wellington, Florida, I knew one of the places I wanted to visit was the Wellington Equestrian Gallery & Mall. And boy was I glad I did

Reed Kessler on the March Cover of Sidelines!

Thursday, February 14 2013 by Editor
By Jan Westmark-Allan The March issue of Sidelines Magazine – featuring Olympic star Reed Kessler! Photo by Jack Mancini The March issue of Sidelines has hit the stands – or at least the Internet (but will be in your mailboxes soon!) The March issue features Olympic Show Jumper Reed Kessler on the cover and has a great story on Reed by Sidelines writer Dani Moritz. I was just in Wellington and was able to watch Reed show, and she is pretty remarkable – which is why we titled her story “Remarkable Reed.” Wellington photographer Jack Mancini did a great photo shoot of Reed and had a fun time shooting her with her Olympic horse Cylana and her newly adopted pup Carly, who she adopted from Ron and Danny’s Rescue. I ran into Reed’s mom at the show, standing on the side of the ring watching Reed show, while holding cute Carly in her arms.

Beautiful Weather But No Horses In Sight…Not Yet!

Friday, February 01 2013 by Editor
By Jan Westmark-Allan We watched the Florida sunrise – now we are looking for horses! The sunrise on Ormand Beach, Florida this morning I am headed to Wellington and the Winter Equestrian Festival today – and will kick off my week by attending the “Who Rein’s Supreme?” event supporting the Equestrian Aid Foundation which is tonight at the Jim Brandon Equestrian Center. Sidelines Magazine is the media sponsor for the event – and it will be fun a great evening!! The event is sold out, which is great news for the Equestrian Aid Foundation! I can’t wait to see all the reiners

Please Vote for Sidelines…So I Can Thank the Academy (And All Of Our Friends!)

Wednesday, January 16 2013 by Editor
By Jan Westmark-Allan Vote for Sidelines in Category 8 I spend an inordinate amount of time on the Sidelines  Magazine Facebook page, not to mention the website and blogs. So when Sidelines was named a finalist in the Equestrian Social Media Awards, I let out a big cheer!! All that work – and we have been recognized!! I immediately thought about all the acceptance speeches you hear at the Academy Awards and other awards shows…”I’d like to thank the Academy…” (I do have interns that help me with the Facebook page and website – including April Leonard, Mindy Cortez and Christina Alex – thank you, thank you!!) And of course Bill Tatgenhorst at Sidelines, my website sidekick!! I would certainly like to thank all of the Sidelines “friends” who keep our Facebook page active and also those who read our blogs and visit our website. Now I have one more thing to ask our “friends” – to click on the link for the Equestrian Social Media Awards and vote for us
