Like a baseball team, I try to build contenders. I try to build contenders from the hands (riders and horses) I am dealt. The kids and adults come to me with goals and aspirations, and I attempt to coach them into successful horsemen and hopefully winners
The College Preparatory Invitational Horse Show (CPI) will hold its third annual competition January 18-20, 2013 at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington, FL and we need your help to bring on another one-of-a kind experience to student riders. To fulfill the dreams of the students, CPI is reaching out to individuals and corporations willing to donate funds to help provide student riders the opportunity to showcase their horsemanship and riding talents to top recruiters while trying to earn CPI scholarships. CPI scholarships are more than financial aid intended to cover the cost of study

By Jan Westmark-Allan Miniature Horses from Gentle Carousel Miniature Horses are headed to Connecticut. This photo was a runner up in the Sidelines Magazine Horses & Holidays contest. We’ve all had our world’s rocked by the horrific school shootings in Connecticut last week.
Hello everyone, my name is Frank. I am a 2 year old, male boxer mix. I was found wandering the streets of Miami and some wonderful ladies took me in, fed me, got me some medicine to make me all healthy again! I am a big love, goof ball and did I mention, a great snuggler! I am potty trained, crate trained and get along well with other dogs
Remand/Adopted and already in his new home in Indiana! We apologize for the delay in updating our blog. It has been a rather busy two weeks with 17 adoptions total from all of our facilities. Not only were 17 horses adopted they have actually all been picked up and are already in their new homes! Even better we have 8 horses that have also been adopted (adoption fees paid and contracts signed) that are simply waiting for transportation. With so many horses leaving we have that and more arriving. So not only have we been working hard to match each horse up with the perfect home we have had to organize for new horses to come in. We rarely have empty stalls for longer than a day or two which means we have a ton of new horses at all of our facilities. Smartacus/ Adopted and awaiting his ride to Lexington, Kentucky With the anticipation of the 8 adopted leaving soon and that list growing over the weekend with numerous appointments with potential adopters we have 16 new horses scheduled to arrive by Tuesday. Just to give you a glimpse of where they all come from; we currently have 7 horses coming up from Florida, 2 from Belmont, 1 from New Jersey, 4 from Penn National, and 2 from Kentucky and as long as there are no unexpected snow storms we will be bursting at the seams with horses by Tuesday afternoon. Of these horses and including several of the ones that arrived this week we definitely have some quality horses that we look forward to working with. We have a young gray Smart Strike gelding, a Najran gray gelding who is a stakes winner of $278,000, a Tale of the Cat graded stakes placed gelding, a young Congrats gelding, a young Kitten’s Joy gelding, an AP Indy gelding, and a gelding who ran in the 2007 Kentucky Derby.

By Jan Westmark-Allan You could win a chance to compete at FTI WEF – just like Lillie Keenan pictured here! Sidelines has a great time hosting contests and giving out fantastic prizes to equestrians all across the country. It’s fun for us to see how excited everyone is to enter – and of course we love the reaction of the contestants who win. Well hold on to your helmets, because Sidelines is about to offer the “Contest Of A Lifetime!” (I had to capitalize every word – the prize is that Big!) If you have ever dreamed of competing at the FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival (FTI WEF) in Wellington, Florida – the winter show capital of the horse world – then your dream could become a reality
