Harrisburg, PA – October 13, 2013 – Lillie Keenan, of New York, NY, topped a field of 234 starters today, winning the coveted Pessoa/ US Hunter Seat Equitation Medal in the Final riding CLEARWAY at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show. Harrisburg, PA – October 12, 2013 – The sun finally decided to peek through the clouds on the third day of competition at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show, and the atmosphere in general seemed brighter as the air warmed up and the puddles receded and started to dry out. Dr. Betsee Parker’s OVATION awarded Junior Hunter Grand Champion for a record third consecutive year Madeline “Maddie” Schaefer, clinched both top ribbons in the Small Pony Hunter Championship, taking the Champion title with her own pony ARMANI, and the Reserve Champion with Further Lane Farm’s ROLLING STONE.

Liz Halliday will make her first FEI Nations Cup appearance for the United States Equestrian squad this weekend (October 10-13) when the professional dual sportswoman takes part in the CCI*** Team competition in Boekelo. Liz, along with one of her Chailey Stud stable’s brightest prospects – Blackie (Fernhill by Night) – travels to the Netherlands as part of the three-rider American team for the final round of this year’s championship

In riding our horses, we often put them into situations which go against their natural instincts. Events such as horse shows and parades are loud, chaotic, and can be overwhelming even for typically calm horses. Additionally, mounted shooting and battle reenactments leave the horse to contend with repetitive loud noises at volumes that can damage the horse’s hearing, just as they can damage our hearing
