Athleticism, intelligence, and heart are three traits that both racehorse and equestrian trainers look for in a horse. The Thoroughbred in general is known to have all three.

With a whole host of new horses arriving and those now regarded as old friends saying farewell as they move onto their new adoptive homes, I find myself with no horses ready just yet for adoption although the facility is currently full and waitlisted – most have just arrived and are settling in, relaxing and becoming accustomed to a new way of life away from the track. One of the most important aspects of the transitional period that all horses arriving undergo is an evaluation not only of temperament but also for soundness and future potential as a riding horse.
