We hopped back and forth between the opening day of the World Dressage Masters at the Jim Brandon Equestrian Center in West Palm Beach and the FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival (FTI WEF) held at Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington to catch the up and coming horses at each venue. In the international ring at the Winter Equestrian Festival veteran international jumper rider Katie Monahan-Prudent and Michael Smith’s V were victorious in Thursday’s $33,000 Ruby et Violette WEF Challenge Cup Round 3 during the third week of competition

Please Vote for Sidelines…So I Can Thank the Academy (And All Of Our Friends!)

By Jan Westmark-Allan Vote for Sidelines in Category 8 I spend an inordinate amount of time on the Sidelines Magazine Facebook page, not to mention the website and blogs. So when Sidelines was named a finalist in the Equestrian Social Media Awards, I let out a big cheer!! All that work – and we have been recognized!! I immediately thought about all the acceptance speeches you hear at the Academy Awards and other awards shows…”I’d like to thank the Academy…” (I do have interns that help me with the Facebook page and website – including April Leonard, Mindy Cortez and Christina Alex – thank you, thank you!!) And of course Bill Tatgenhorst at Sidelines, my website sidekick!! I would certainly like to thank all of the Sidelines “friends” who keep our Facebook page active and also those who read our blogs and visit our website. Now I have one more thing to ask our “friends” – to click on the link for the Equestrian Social Media Awards and vote for us

By Jan Westmark-Allan Showing at WEF! Enter our contest! Sometimes, in the midst of cleaning stalls, feeding, grooming and paying the bills for our lovely equines, it can be easy to forget how amazing horses really are. Then we have a great ride, experience a wonderful bonding moment with our horses or turn on the TV and see a Budweiser commercial featuring the grand Budweiser Clydesdales. Ok, you may be wondering why I threw the Budweiser Clydesdales in – but it’s a simple answer

Tuesday, January 08 2013

Introducing 4 year old, 16.2hh Thoroughbred gelding “Fine Chap” now available for adoption in Bluffton, South Carolina! Our prediction is Fine Chap is going to be famous one day! He has all the components that when patiently nurtured will produce a champion. Bloodlines include: Northern Dancer, Secretariat, Halo and the one he reminds us most of Terlingua. This good boy has a great body to grow into at which point he could use it in dressage, eventing or hunter/jumpers.
