Wednesday, October 17 2012
by Editor
October 17, 2012 Even though he has the most generic dog name in the entire world, Spot (0994496) , an 8-year-old neutered papillon mix, is nothing but unique. He is 8 years old, but he acts just like a big puppy. You should see this tiny dog pulling staff through the halls of the shelter! Spot loves exploring new places and meeting new people

Sidelines Spotlight: American Women Shine at Burghley (Way to go Sinead Halpin and Allison Springer!)
Wednesday, October 17 2012
by Editor
By Jan Westmark-Allan Now that the November issue of Sideline s is on the news stands (you can see it free online if you have a print subscription also!) there are several stories that were cut from the issue because of space — but they are still great stories and I want to share them with you!! MiMi Falb wrote a wonderful on-the-scene story on the success that American eventers Sinead Halpin and Allison Springer had at the Burghley Horse Trials following the London Olympics. It’s a great story and we were thrilled with the success these two young ladies had. Enjoy the journey as you ride along with Mimi, Sinead and Allison! Why a Thoroughbred?
Tuesday, October 16 2012
by Editor
Although Thoroughbreds are bred primarily to run they also have many great characteristics that make them suitable for a variety of other disciplines. Athleticism, intelligence, and heart are three traits that both racehorse and equestrian trainers look for in a horse. The Thoroughbred in general is known to have all three.

More On The UCF Mascot “Pegasus” (And A Ride with Martha Stewart)
Monday, October 15 2012
by Editor
By Jan Westmark-Allan During his tour with the World Famous Lipizzaners, Maluso II (known as Pegasus at the University of Central Florida) stopped by the Martha Stewart show – and the TV host jumped on for a ride! In my blog yesterday I shared the Sidelines Sidekick story from our November issue called “Maluso II: Big Horse on Campus.” The gorgeous Andalusian – a former star with the World Famous Lipizzaners – retired from his touring life and is now the mascot for the University of Central Florida, where he goes by the name of Pegasus! During his time with the World Famous Lipizzaners he appeared on the Martha Stewart show – and as you can see from the photo above, Martha jumped right on. (Martha is a horse lover and has her own horses.) Catherine Anne Cassidy, who was interviewed in our Sidekick story and was a knight that rode Pegasus at the UCF football games, also sent us a great collection of photos of Pegasus – and since only one photo could make it into the Sidelines November print issue, I am sharing them here

I’ve been privy to enough new product launches, tried and tried again new-to-market fashions and understand the great importance of not only riding top but looking top in the process (this means if you have a brown saddle you better be darn sure you’re sporting a brown girth and bridle!) thus I feel compelled to share a happening new range from the folks at SmartPak dubbed Alexus complete with the hip byline aesthetic, athletic, alexus! Schweet! The Alexus Hybrid Jacket is a nice tailored fit without being too tight and the contrasting black sides are slimming too.
