Happy birthday Tucker!
Saturday, May 04 2013
by Editor
Today is the Gorgeous Boy’s 11th birthday. It is really hard to believe this picture was taken ten years ago: Or that this picture was taken eight years ago (his first summer of work!): Or even that this one was three years ago (our first summer in the Adult Hunters), feels like yesterday: Today is an extra special birthday for Tucker because it is also Kentucky Derby Day.

Over 500 Attend Thoroughbreds For All Event Eager to Learn About Retired Racehorses

Proceeds benefited New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program and Retired Racehorse Training Project Lexington, KY- Friday night’s Thoroughbreds For All nearly doubled in size from last year’s event with over 500 attending from 28 states while raising over $12,000 for two worthy aftercare charities. The majority of the audience was made up of equestrians in town for the Rolex Three Day Event who wanted to learn more about retired Thoroughbred racehorses. The racing industry was well represented as the event was sponsored by AmWest Entertainment, Gulfstream After Care, and Three Chimneys Farm. The beneficiaries, New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program and the Retired Racehorse Training Program, partnered to host the educational event at the New Vocations Lexington facility. The evening consisted of dinner followed by a special presentation from The Jockey Club Thoroughbred Incentive Program to recognize each of the 2013 Rolex riders competing on registered Thoroughbreds with a gift. Each Rolex rider shared their thoughts and most their preference for using retired racehorses for eventing. “The Thoroughbred Incentive Program recognizes and rewards the versatility of the Thoroughbred through sponsorship of Thoroughbred classes and awards at horse shows and events across the United States and Canada,” said Kristin Leshney , legal associate for The Jockey Club “The Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event is the epitome of equine athleticism, and it was an honor to be able to recognize so many Thoroughbreds competing at this level.” The remainder of the evening consisted of four sessions focused on how to choose and work with newly retired racehorses.

Okay, we have made it through an outstanding long weekend of Rolex Kentucky Three-day Event, presented Land Rover, and the equestrian triathlon did not disappoint. ROLEX – Cross Country Recap
Sunday, April 28 2013
by Editor
Andrew Nicholson (NZ) sits in first and second places on Quimbo and Calico Joe respectively after a cross-country day that rang up serious changes on the leaderboard. The XC tends to bring about huge differences on the leaderboard, but holy wow… Buck Davidson put in a double clear on Reggie (Ballynoe Castle RM), jumping from 8th to 3rd AND clocking closest to the optimum time, so he won the 2-year free lease of a brand new Land Rover – oh yeah! – and William F0x-Pitt partnered Seacookie TSF to advance from 10th to fourth with another double clear

Day two of the Kentucky Rolex Three-Day Event meant the second day of dressage and at this writing William Fox-Pitt is in the lead with Chilli Morning (although another dressage rider could have taken the lead by now). The weather is beautiful, the dressage is fantastic and the Kentucky Horse Park is packed with people.
