By Jan Westmark-Allan Riding through the Brazilian countryside at Interagro Lusitano. I’m headed to Boston tomorrow to visit my daughter, and while I have traveling on my mind I want to tell you about a few horsey trips that I would love to do. My daughter and I used to visit great dude ranches out west every summer – but two trips I recently heard about would require me heading south! One trip I received info on is “Destination Lusitano” – a trip to Interagro Lusitano farm in Itapira, Brazil

November 6, 2012 Harley (0935787), a 4-year-old black Chihuahua, is a little bit shy at first, but he loves meeting new people, and he would never turn down an offer of treats! So it’s been a few days since my last post mainly due to the fact that Hurricane Sandy affected us rather badly for several days here in Virginia Beach. I am however pleased to report that all the horses stayed safe and warm and although had to spend a few days confined to their stalls, no major incidents occurred and the barn stayed watertight.

Today’s Champions Running for Yesterday’s Stars!

Written by Anna Ford (Thoroughbred Program Director) One of the hardest things about the day to day happenings at New Vocations is raising funds to run the program. Each year our goal is to raise more funds then the year before so we can in turn increase the number of horses helped. It hasn’t been easy but somehow we have managed to reach that goal year after year. While I would much rather be at the barn working with the horses, I find myself on the road every other week soliciting new donors and meeting with our current donors. We have several fundraisers that I encourage people to support throughout the year but one of my favorites is the New Vocations Breeders’ Cup Pledge.
