David Marcus Debuts New Mount, Don Altena

Sunday, July 14 2013 by Editor
By Jan Westmark-Allan “Don Altena made his competition debut under Canadian Olympian David Marcus at the CornerStone Summer Festival held July 12 to 14 at Caledon Equestrian Park in Palgrave, ON.” Photo Credit – Ally Dunlop Canadian Olympic Dressage rider David Marcus appeared on the April cover of Sidelines Magazine with his gorgeous Olympic partner Chrevi’s Capital. I had the pleasure of attending the photo shoot (at Tuny Page’s Stillpoint Farm in Wellington, Florida) and it was a great shoot! Photographer Sue Stickle took a zillion photos (not sure it that is an accurate number) and David and Chrevi were great sports – not to mention very photogenic! After the photo shoot, David saddled up his other great mount Don Kontes and rode him in the indoor for us. It was beautiful – poetry in motion.

Tweseldown victory follows impressive round at Barbury International

Friday, July 12 2013 by Editor
A solid CIC*** performance from a Chailey Stud veteran, followed by victory at Tweseldown, characterised a busy few days of eventing for Liz Halliday last weekend.  The professional dual sportswoman began her weekend by contesting the Barbury International Horse Trials in Wiltshire where two of her horses – Fox (Red Letter Day II) and Blackie (Fernhill by Night) – were competing.  Fox and Liz have formed a strong partnership and close personal bond during their near-decade together and rolled back the years to record a very pleasing result in a hotly contested CIC*** section. Dressage has never been Fox’s strongest discipline but a tidy test gave cause for optimism heading into the Show Jumping arena. Unfortunately three rails down would leave the pair towards the tail of the field.  But Barbury’s monster Cross Country course and the sweltering temperatures ensured that a stern final round remained

Wise Harmony- Available for Adoption!

Friday, June 28 2013 by Editor
Wise Harmony is 2007, 16.1 1/2 hand, chestnut mare. She is ready for adoption for $400 in Marysville, OH. So racing might not have been her thing, but Harmony has enough talent and heart for a different discipline.  At first glance at her in her stall she doesn’t get your attention, but as soon as she is under saddle she is much more impressive.  She is a bigger bodied mare with a good brain and sweet disposition.  She also has a good work ethic once she gets past her nervousness of having a new job because she is a sensitive mare and wants to do well.  She has come a long way in a short period of time and if her rider is soft, patient and quiet with her, the payoff is big.  She will soften, round up, and work in a nice frame with good rhythm and balance. Stephanie Moon Photo Harmony gets along well with the other mare in turn out and she enjoys her time outside.  She is respectful to handle, likes attention and has no vices.  Harmony will be suitable for as a Dressage or pleasure horse and may be able to hop over an occasional fence
