Making the Cut
Monday, February 18 2013
by Editor
Recently, Augusta, Georgia hosted the first leg of the Mercuria NCHA (National Cutting Horse Association) World Series of Cutting. The competive event will then move through Texas, Canada, Idaho, California, Ohio and Lyon, France before the end of 2013. TheNCHA, with 16,000 members nationwide, falls somewhere between eventing (USEA) with 12,000 members and dressage (USDA) with 30,000 members so it represents a significant number of competitors nationwide although membership tends to be clustered in regions where the sport first sprang up.

Dog of the Day – Bourbon

Bourbon is a big, happy, goofy guy who would make a wonderful companion for an active family. He was very underweight when he came in as one of our Cajun rescues, but has filled out into a healthy young guy.

The Touching Budweiser Commercial & Classic Equine Equipment’s Role In It
Wednesday, February 06 2013

If you watched the Super Bowl on Sunday – and even if you didn’t watch it – chances are that you’ve seen the Budweiser commercial that’s gone viral in the equestrian world since it first aired. The touching one-minute mini movie gives viewers a look into the bond between a Clydesdale colt and his breeder from birth right on through when the horse leaves the farm for training to become a member of Budweiser’s prided hitch-pulling team. The most poignant part of the commercial comes with the reunion of horse and breeder, and it’s a testament to the incredible bonds that can form between horse and human.

By Jan Westmark-Allan I am not a football fan. I grew up in a football family, but when horse fever hit me, that was the direction I went in life. But, once a year I am a football fan – during the Superbowl.
