Dan Steers of Double Dan Horsemanship Announced as First Competitor of Road to the Horse International 2014

Australian clinician, Dan Steers of Double Dan Horsemanship, was announced as the first competitor at Road to the Horse 2014. Steers will make his way to the Kentucky Horse Park March 14-16, 2014 to compete for the World Championship of Colt Starting title representing his homeland of Australia. Both Dan Steers and Dan James are all too familiar with the Road to the Horse phenomenon.

Intercollegiate Dressage Association’s 2013 National Championship

Mount Holyoke College Equestrian Center in South Hadley, Massachusetts and their dressage team will host over 100 riders from more than 20 colleges and universities throughout the United States at the Intercollegiate Dressage Association’s 12th annual National Championship on April 27th and 28th. Four-member teams and individuals in each of the IDA’s four divisions–Introductory Level, Lower Training Level, Upper Training Level and First Level–are chosen from the approximately 600 student riders representing 55 colleges and universities across 9 regions of the US and Canada.

WASHINGTON (March 1, 2013) – The Humane Society of the United States, the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), Front Range Equine Rescue and Animal Protection of New Mexico strongly criticized a decision by the Obama administration to process an application for inspecting horse slaughter at a New Mexico facility on the grounds that killing horses for human consumption is inhumane and creates a serious health risk to consumers. If the application is approved, Valley Meat Company LLC will be the first facility in the U.S. to slaughter horses for human consumption since 2007, when the few remaining plants closed after Congress chose to eliminate funding for horse meat inspections
